Ultimate guide to a proper skincare routine

 

Many beauty and health influencers always give their best skincare to us, but it leaves us wondering why do we need a 10 step skincare routine. Some people feel lazy to follow it and others don’t really feel like buying a lot of skincare.


Why to maintain our skin?

Skincare includes our overall health and appearance.Our skin is exposed to environment on daily business and the pollutants damage our skin barrier. To prevent premature ageing and have a plumped and tighten skin barrier,we require a good skincare routine.It prevents skin diseases like skin cancer and boosts collagen and confidence.

Understanding skin type:-

We all have different skin types. These are :-

1.   OILY SKIN TYPE:- it produces excess sebum,enlarged pores and it is more prone to acne. It is found in 20% of adults.

2.   DRY SKIN TYPE:- the skin becomes flaky,tight,sometimes itchy. About 15% of adults experience this.

3.   COMBINATION SKIN TYPE:-oily t zone with dry cheeks, commonly found in 50% of teenagers.

4.   SENSITIVE SKIN:-easily irritated,prone to redness,reacts to fragrances,found in 15% of adults.

What are the core steps of a skincare routine:-

1.   CLEANSING:- use a PH- balanced cleanser AM and PM to remove the dirt,oil and makeup effectively. It helps to unclog pores and prevents acne.Regular cleansing supports skin renewal ,promotes a brighter complextion.

2.   TREATMENT:-apply serums or prescription topicals to address concerns like acne or aging skin.

3.   MOISTURIZING:-hydrate and protect your skin barrier with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and ceramides.

4.   SUN PROTECTION:-use SPF 30 spectrum sunscreen every morning to prevent damage and premature aging.

Morning skincare routine:-( 5 -10 mins)

1.   GENTLE CLEANSER:- it removes overnight buildup without stripping moisture.

2.   LIGHTWEIGHT MOISTRIZER:- hydrates skin gently,avoiding greasiness.

Evening skincare routine:-(10-15 mins)

1.DOUBLE CLEANSE:- oil based cleanser first,then gentle cleanser for thorough impurity removal.

2.EXFOLIATE:- 1-2 times a week using chemical (AHA/BHA)or physical methods to remove dead skin.

3.TREATMENT SERUM:- retinol targets aging and acne;introduce collagen.

4.RICH MOISTRIZER:- replenishes hydration overnight with ingredients like Shea butter and squalane.

Skincare ingredients:-

1.Hyaluronic Acid:- attracts and retains moisture up to 1000x its weight in water for hydration.

2.Vitamin C:- powerful antioxidant that brightnes skin and supports collagen production.

3.RETINOL:- stimulates collagen and reduces wrinkles;start with low concentrations.

Treating various skincare concerns

1.   HOW TO TREAT ACNE:- don’t pop your pimples, it can leads to scars and infection. Instead we should acne curing lotions, serums and creams. Using too much of products can lead to irritation and redness. Preferably use salicylic acid. If your acne gets bad, visit a dermatologist.

2.   HOW TO TREAT BLEMISHES:- blemishes can be covered with oil free makeup. Green tinted colour corrector can be used to cover blemishes .Some tinted concealers which contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to help dry the blemishes. We should stop using a product which bothers your skin and causes more acne.

3.   TANNING:- UV exposure can cause skin cancer. It can lead to wrinkly, leathery, looking dark spots. We should regularly use a sunscreen with SPF 50 PA +++.

Hectic daily routines can cause dark circles. Whenever you wake up in the morning, you may feel that your eyes are puffed up. To maintain clear skin, focus on a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins and healthy fats. Fruits and vegetables, those rich in vitamin c and beta-carotene can help protect skin damage and support collagen production. Fatty fish and nuts are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids,which can reduce inflammation and improve skin elasticity.

1.TOMATOES:- they are rich in lycopene which is a powerful antioxidant that protects against UV damage.

2.BERRIES:- berries are full of antioxidants and vitamin c which helps in skin brightening and reduce acne.
